Wellness Wheel and Protective Risk Factors Venn due today.

Hi Planners,

Due to an event for the grade 9s, I'll be in and out of the class today; you'll have another teacher helper.

• Please look at your Wellness Wheels and consider your notes on 'Protective and Risk factors'. 
• Then, Create a Venn diagram detailing what are the Protective and Risk factors in your life
• Note their are some things that may exist in both (place these where the two circles intersect.
• Place Protective factors on the right and Risk factors on the left.
• ex. Protective: Good education, clean air and water...
• ex. Risk: Lack of Sleep, Eating a lot of processed food
• ex. Overlap: Baby at home (protective because it creates good family feeling risk because it cries at night and we lose sleep).

Hand in both your Wellness Wheel and your Venn diagram at the end of today's class.

Ten questions and responses due next block: Oct. 31

Hey Planners,

We are continuing to work on prepping for interviews. To that end, the following is due next class:

• 10 different types of questions (see hand outs) from the perspective of the boss who will hire you for your job.
• 10 point form responses you'd give (1 for each question)
• 1 of the 10 must be a situational question (what would you do if...)

Beyond this, we are working on our Cover letters. We will draft them Monday and have them ready in printed (draft 1) format for Weds. Nov.2.

Resume first printed draft due: Thursday Oct. 20

Hello Planners,

Field trip forms and $4.00 now due.

We  will have spent the last 2 days on https://www.myblueprint.ca/ drafting our current resume's.

Your homework is to print a 1st draft and bring it to class Thursday Oct. 20.

This draft must include:

• Contact info.
• Job objective (state job you are applying for )
• A list of skills
• A record of your volunteer and work experience with active verbs.
• Your hobbies/certificates/awards

I'll do a home work check for marks and then we will do a peer edit and rework them. 

The Final draft is due: Weds. Oct. 27th

Hey Planners,

For next class, please write a Job Objective for the job you have chosen to focus upon (the one you signed up today in class).

Here is an idea of what a job objective might look like and the link we were reviewing today to give you a sense of how resume's can look:

• Please take care to ensure the spelling and grammar are  perfect 
• and that it perfectly articulates your job desires as they link to the job you have chosen.

Transferable skills homework Due Oct. 12

Hello Planners,

Today we began to make plans for creating resume's that you can really use. As part of that process we looked at work skills on Youth.gc.ca.

Next, we listed jobs youth can do and the skills that are associated with each.

For homework, you will complete the Transferable skills worksheet that links school work with paid work. This sheet is Due next class Oct. 12.

You may find it useful, in the longer term, to focus on one youth job that you think you could and would do now. This will help you ready yourself for the upcoming work on your  resume' and interview for our class.

• Create a box of treasures (each item represents an aspect of your life's journey) Remember I'll need a little label on each to indicate its purpose/meaning.

Values Top 10 in Action Homework/ My Blueprint account creation

Hi Planners,

Here is a list of what we did today and at the bottom is your homework Due Sept. 23.

Values cards Activity

·     Divide the values cards into 3 categories:

o   value less, value, very important value

·     Once you have your 3 groups paper clip each of  the less valuable  and valuable piles and return them to the envelope.

·     Take out a piece of paper

·     Make a top 10 list of those values which are most important to you.

Then for homework:

·     list each of the 10 values and tell how do you perform, do or enact that value in your life. This is not an idea or a thought, but a way you demonstrate your values through your actions.

·     Then write a short reflection about what you have there. Are there any surprises? Is there anything missing?

Hello Planners,

What is listed below are those actions you should have taken so far for your final exam project. Also, in Red is your homework. Happy planning!

Things to consider:

·     You have one month’s wages to start you off.

·     You are paid on the 1^st and 15^th of each month

·     You must provide proof of your costs

What you should have so far:

·     Home (printed)

·     Job chosen/firm located

·     Map(printed) of route from home to work

·     Transit plan (proof of cost printed)

·     Furniture list (room by room) Evidence of costs so you may have a solid estimate for your one line item in your budget

Today:

·     1 week healthy eating menu

·     Create a grocery list based on this x 4 weeks

·     Evidence of cost (flyers,pics, family receipt to validate one line item in your budget

·     Note: some items you buy only in the first month or two.

·     Note: some items you buy once every 3 months or so (take that into consideration in your budgeting.

Please keep in mind that you are communicating your plans to me. Please make it easy and clear to follow

Homework this weekend:

As you have only one more class before these are due, it is important that this weekend be a work weekend.

·     Ensure you have completed all of the above

·     Write a personal profile. Who are you, why have you made the choices you have made?

·     What special events, hobbies and entertainment will you do? Create evidence for cost and make it a line item in your budget

·     Create your budgets (2) based on all of the above!
